Workshop címét az évszázadokon átívelő intellektuális vitáról, a Querelle des femmes-ről kapta, mely mint irodalmi zsáner a korai olasz és francia humanista hagyományban a nők társadalmi szerepét és természetét tematizálta. Ez a párbeszéd ma a jog területén folytatódik, középpontjában a kérdés: bár a törvény nem tehet igazságtalanul különbséget férfiak és nők között, a valódi esélyegyenlőség nem jelenti a nemek közötti sajátosságok teljes figyelmen kívül hagyását. Sőt, a teljesebb igazsághoz ezen perspektívák megismerése és tekintetbe vétele elengedhetetlen. Az ókori világtól a modern nemzetközi jogig tartó női tapasztalatok vizsgálatával az előadók azt tekintik át, hogy a női identitás hogyan formálta – és alakítja ma is – a jogi státuszt, a konvenciókat és a társadalmi szerepeket.
The workshop takes its title from the centuries-old intellectual debate, the Querelle des femmes, which as a literary genre in the early Italian and French humanist tradition, thematized the social role and nature of women. This dialogue continues today in the field of law, focusing on the question: while the law cannot unjustly differentiate between men and women, true equality does not mean completely ignoring the specificities of the sexes. Indeed, for a greater truth, it is essential to recognize and take into account these perspectives. By examining women's experiences from the ancient world to modern international law, the speakers will review how female identity has shaped – and continues to shape – legal status, conventions, and social roles.
